Small business loans

More and more women are considering opening their own business these days. Artists and crafters on Etsy, Upcycled clothing, handcrafted felt and wool hats and socks and even macramé is making a resurgence in the marketplace. These women crafters and artists are taking the economy by storm with their motto “Handmade Holidays” urging everyone to purchase hand made goods for their family gifts instead of mass produced items from the store. If you are one of these talented women, you may be looking to start your own business either online or in a brick and mortar store. Business costs mount up quickly and you may find yourself in need of a small business loan. Take heart, there are many grants and loans that have been created specifically with women business owners in mind. Many business assistance agencies are working to create special benefits for female business owners, and most loan agencies have special loans that are geared specifically for women.

Grants for businesses are plentiful, but you have to know where to find them and how to apply. Many people are intimidated by the grant writing process, but don’t let that stop you. Not only are there grants available for the women business owner, but there are also agencies that specialize in helping you get the grants that you need. Contact your local business development office, Small Business Administration or state women’s business agency and ask about what programs may be available to assist you. Take advantage of everything they have to offer, from tax incentives to business classes and of course, grant writing assistance or low interest loans.

When you are investigating these various assistance agencies, keep in mind that the Small Business Association actually has in place a program specifically designed to help women build new businesses. The U.S. Government has done quite a bit to help women business owners, and they want to see you succeed. Start by writing a business plan and improving your credit if it is necessary. Then, save as much money as you can to put down on your business and then approach the SBA for a potential loan. They have a variety of methods of assisting new business owners, and will do what they can to provide you with a low interest loan and other business assistance.

Your local bank also has programs that cater to small business owners or specifically for women and other minorities. Many businesses fail in their first year, but you might be surprised to find that women owned businesses have a higher rate of success! Because of this, most banks are happy to help a woman get started in her business, and you aren’t considered as much of a risk for small business loans. You may get a better interest rate than you expected or have other terms for your loan that are better than those they typically offer other new businesses. If you have decent credit, some of your own money to put up toward the building of your business, or if you have collateral, you are in an even better position to borrow money to start your business!

Women business owners are taking the global marketplace by storm! Women the world over, of every nationality that you can imagine, are plucking up the courage to start their own business and these businesses are succeeding and extremely profitable. Support women-owned businesses in your area, and encourage young girls to consider entrepreneurial endeavors. With Small Business Association loans and support, women business owner clubs and associations, government grants and local community support, and small business loans, any women with the inclination can start her own business and succeed!
